About The Strange Capers
As The Strange Capers, we create innovative theater events in the spirit of a gift, and empower, challenge,
and promote emerging artists in the Twin Cities community.
The founders of The Strange Capers are:
Randy Reyes, Co-Artistic Director
Since moving to Minneapolis from NYC 5 years ago Randy has acted for various
theaters like The Guthrie, Mixed Blood, Mu Performing Arts, the Minnesota
Fringe, and the Workhaus Collective. Randy’s directing experience includes
the creation of FOUND at Augsburg College, ASIAMNESIA by Sun Mee Chomet and GOD
SAVE GERTRUDE by Deborah Stein at the Playwrights’ Center, VOICES and THE
VALUE OF LIFE at the Minnesota Science Museum, KING OF SHADOWS at Pillsbury
House Theater and CIRCLE AROUND THE ISLAND, ZOMO, and RAVEN at the Guthrie’s
Dowling Studio. Randy’s training includes The University of Utah and The
Juilliard School. He also teaches for the Guthrie’s Education Dept and the
University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program. Randy is the
Associate Artistic Director at Mu Performing Arts.
Eric Powell Holm, Co-Artistic Director
Eric was raised in Brookings, South Dakota and graduated from the University of
Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program. In 2005, he and Elliot Eustis
founded Shakespeare On The Cape (SOTC) in Provincetown, MA, and over four
seasons, SOTC created 15 productions and employed 30 young artists. For the
company, Eric directed Twelfth Night; or What You Will, Romeo and Juliet,
School For Wives, Cloud 9, The Tempest, and, with Jef Hall-Flavin, the world
premiere Tennessee Williams one-act called The Parade, Or Approaching the End
of a Summer. Eric also directed Sarah Ruhl’s Melancholy Play for 3 Sticks,
and Andy Bragen’s Water for the Chicago Avenue Project at Pillsbury House.
He was the assistant director to the Guthrie’s Merchant of Venice with Joe
Dowling, CTC’s production of Naomi Iizuka’s Anon(ymous) with Peter Brosius,
and Matthew Amendt’s acclaimed original play The Comedian’s Tragedy with
Bill McCallum. Eric founded The Bottling Company in Minneapolis in 2008, which
produced the Midwest premiere of Christopher Shinn’s Pulitzer-finalist play
Dying City (one of Lavender Magazine’s Top Ten Productions of the Year). He
was named one of “Five Rising Artists to Watch in 2009″ by Minnesota
Monthly. He assistant directed The Strange Capers’ As You Like It in 2009
and is currently assistant directing A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Lauren Ignaut, Managing Director
Rachael Crew, Marketing and Communication Director
Rachael was raised in Southwest Minneapolis and is a graduate of Washburn High
School. She attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and holds a B.A.
in Anthropology. Rachael’s previous work experience includes marketing and
communications roles at VEE Corporation (Sesame Street Live) and City Pages.
She is currently Associate Director of Marketing at the Guthrie Theater.
